Staff Accountant

About the role

Charter Schools USA is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. The role supports the organization’s mission by ensuring accurate financial reporting and cash management across its network of schools.

Key responsibilities

• Perform bank reconciliations and balance‑sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis.
• Prepare and post journal entries, and approve vendor invoices in line with budgetary controls.
• Analyze the income statement each month, identify discrepancies and correct them.
• Create and maintain advanced Excel worksheets used for ledger reconciliations and cash planning.
• Review and reconcile accounts‑payable and accounts‑receivable variances across entities.
• Lead monthly cash‑planning meetings, collaborate on receivables status, and assist the Controller with cash forecasts.
• Maintain accurate financial records in the accounting system and support timely month‑end close.
• Participate in ad‑hoc projects and reporting as required.

Required profile

• Relevant accounting experience in diverse industries.
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles and accrual accounting.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for the organization’s educational mission.
• Ability to work effectively with staff at all organizational levels.
• Adaptability to handle unique financial situations as they arise.
