Sr Packaging Engineer, Distribution Packaging

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer to lead the development and validation of distribution packaging solutions for its advanced semiconductor and display equipment. The role focuses on ensuring reliable, cost‑effective packaging throughout the product life cycle while supporting global supply chain operations.

Key responsibilities

• Aid in establishing and managing packaging suppliers, processes, and procedures.
• Develop test plans and conduct laboratory testing on products, packages, and packaging materials.
• Define Design For Distribution (DFD) requirements and influence product design as part of the Product Life Cycle (PLC) process.
• Identify and execute continuous‑improvement and cost‑saving initiatives.
• Develop and maintain global packaging standards and specifications for Applied Materials and its supply base.
• Provide advanced training and support to junior packaging engineers.

Required profile

• BS degree in Packaging, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
• 10+ years of professional experience in packaging engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience developing and validating packaging solutions for complex equipment or technology hardware.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools – NX (preferred), SolidWorks, Creo, Artios, AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of packaging design, testing, validation, and materials selection.
• Experience in supplier management, qualification, and global standards development.

• Salary range: $133,500 – $183,500 per year.
