Sr. Indirect Tax Analyst

About the role

The Sr. Indirect Tax Analyst will join a high‑performing finance team within a multi‑billion‑dollar global organization. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with state and local sales & use tax regulations, defending multi‑state audits, and identifying opportunities to reduce tax exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage multi‑state audit defense for Sales & Use, Severance, Business License, and Fuel Taxes.
• Address and resolve tax‑related issues for external customers promptly and professionally.
• Respond to inquiries from internal stakeholders and vendors regarding state and local tax regulations.
• Prepare account reconciliations related to Sales & Use tax activity.
• Conduct research on complex multi‑state Sales & Use tax matters.
• Support due‑diligence efforts for mergers, acquisitions, and similar business activities involving multi‑state tax implications.
• Provide research and technical input for SAP and Vertex tax systems to ensure accurate tax determination.
• Draft technical letters and correspondence to state agencies to clarify tax law interpretations.
• Obtain and implement special tax exemptions when appropriate.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy within tax processes.
• Develop and deliver training to internal teams on Sales & Use tax topics.
• Assist with efforts to meet compliance requirements for all Sales & Use Tax obligations.

Required profile

• 3‑5+ years of experience in multi‑state Sales & Use tax audit defense.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
• Master’s degree and/or CPA certification (preferred).
