Sr. Director, E-commerce & Customer Enablement

About the role

The Sr. Director, E‑commerce & Customer Enablement will define and execute the long‑term digital commerce strategy for relx, overseeing e‑commerce storefronts, marketing sites, content management systems, customer account centers and self‑service portals. Reporting to senior leadership, the role consolidates e‑commerce and customer enablement functions to drive growth, security, AI integration and a seamless digital experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and own the strategic roadmap for all customer‑facing digital platforms.
• Manage the budget and resource allocation for e‑commerce and enablement teams.
• Lead architecture and implementation of multi‑tenant, headless storefronts and hybrid cloud/on‑prem environments.
• Ensure security governance and compliance across all digital touchpoints.
• Drive AI‑enabled features to enhance customer interactions and engineering efficiency.
• Partner with engineering, product and marketing to translate customer requirements into scalable solutions.
• Oversee lifecycle management, continuous improvement and performance monitoring of platforms.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of software development experience, including senior digital leadership of large‑scale customer‑facing platforms.
• At least 7 years leading multi‑disciplinary technology teams through transformation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
• Proven track record delivering e‑commerce, content management or self‑service solutions at enterprise scale.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
