Sr. Design Engineer

About the role

Moog is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead mechanical design efforts for electromechanical and electrohydraulic systems used in missile flight actuation and military vehicle motion control. The role is onsite in Buffalo, NY and requires a U.S. DoD security clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for missile steering actuation and critical positioning systems.
• Apply design‑for‑manufacturing principles and collaborate with peers and technicians.
• Perform detailed analyses including CAD layout, GD&T tolerance, dynamic, structural and thermal assessments.
• Direct and mentor other engineers in conceptual design and drawing production.
• Ensure drawings meet GD&T, manufacturing, and inspection requirements.
• Utilize Teamcenter/NX (or comparable CAD tools) to develop and present designs to customers.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD security clearance and access export‑controlled information.
• Proven experience interfacing with customers and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and coaching abilities.
• Capacity to quickly understand new technical concepts and assess associated risks.

• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and technical drawing practices
• Electromechanical and electrohydraulic system design

• Brushless motor sizing and operation knowledge
