Specimen Technician – 3-Month Assignment (Chantilly, VA)

About the role

Pride Health is seeking a Specimen Technician for a 3‑month assignment at a medical facility in Chantilly, VA. The role supports specimen processing activities, ensuring accurate handling, preparation, and documentation of clinical samples.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, sort, and log incoming specimens.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance and centrifuge operation.
• Prepare reagents, media, and worklists for testing.
• Aliquot specimens, check for clots, inoculate, and prepare slides.
• Conduct QA/QC duties, resolve pending lists, and locate missing samples.
• Decontaminate work areas and perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.
• Change gas cylinders and manage biohazardous waste disposal.
• Maintain laboratory computer system records and complete training checklists.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; medical assistant training helpful.
• Basic math and science coursework preferred.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and retain procedural information.
• Professional interaction with coworkers and customers.
• No prior experience required.
