Specialty Pharmacy Clinical Pharmacist

About the role

The Specialty Pharmacy Clinical Pharmacist joins a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical care team to ensure patients receive complete and appropriate drug therapy. This role focuses on improving patient outcomes through drug information, prior authorizations, insurance billing, and coordination with specialty fulfillment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient assessment, medication counseling, and drug utilization review.
• Manage prior authorizations and resolve insurance billing issues on behalf of patients and providers.
• Oversee the Patient Advocate team to ensure timely support.
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and caregivers regarding therapy plans.
• Collaborate with the Specialty Fulfillment team to guarantee timely receipt and compliance with medication regimens.
• Maintain documentation and participate in special projects or committees as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (required); Pharm.D. preferred.
• Completion of a PGY1 or PGY2 Pharmacy Practice Residency.
• License to practice pharmacy by the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy (multi‑state licensure preferred).
• Experience in specialty pharmacy (preferred 2 years, not mandatory).

Required skills

• Computer skills for data entry and patient information retrieval.
• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office suite.
