About the role
The Special Police Officer provides essential protection for the Georgetown University community, safeguarding students, faculty, staff, visitors, and dignitaries. This full‑time position involves patrol, event security, investigations, and emergency response across two campuses in Washington, DC.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct foot and vehicle patrols, responding to emergencies and enforcing U.S., D.C., and university regulations.
- Carry and use batons and pepper spray as authorized.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and preserve evidence for follow‑up.
- Assist in preliminary investigations and support victims of crime.
- Answer emergency calls, alarms, and service requests in the absence of the Communications Officer.
- Deliver community presentations on safety topics under supervision.
Required profile
- Ability to interact professionally with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and neighbors.
- Strong observational and judgment skills for rapid response.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe campus environment.
Required skills
