Special Events Worker II

About the role

Georgetown University is seeking a Special Events Worker II to support a variety of academic, social and cultural events across its two campuses. The role involves set‑up, breakdown and custodial duties to ensure events run smoothly and facilities remain safe and clean.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and break down tables, chairs, podiums, stages, coat racks and other event equipment.
• Perform general cleaning, floor care, classroom and restroom sanitation, and post‑event clean‑up.
• Handle deliveries, move furniture and assist with minor carpentry, painting, snow/ice removal and water or fire damage remediation.
• Follow all university safety, environmental and regulatory guidelines while wearing the required uniform and ID.
• Report to work during inclement weather as an “Emergency Employee.”

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferably one year of custodial or event‑set‑up experience.
• Valid driver’s license from Maryland, DC or Virginia and compliance with the University Driving Policy.
• Ability to read product labels, university policies and work independently or as part of a team.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions and communicate maintenance issues clearly.
