Special Education Teacher (Specialized Content Area)

About the role

William Floyd Middle School is seeking a full‑time, probationary Special Education Teacher to join its faculty for the upcoming academic year. The position focuses on delivering specialized instruction in a core content area such as Mathematics, English Language Arts, Social Studies, or Science.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess instruction for students with special education needs in the assigned content area.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to develop individualized education programs (IEPs).
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and compliance with state and district regulations.
• Participate in the New Teacher Institute and ongoing professional development activities.

Required profile

• Valid New York State certification in Special Education with a content area endorsement.
• Commitment to inclusive education and ability to adapt curriculum for diverse learners.
• Willingness to work a ten‑month contract beginning September 1.
