Special Education Teacher (K-12)

About the role

The Olean City School District is seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers to support K‑12 students with diverse learning needs. This full‑time, on‑site position focuses on delivering instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards and individualized education programs (IEPs).

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess instruction for assigned special education classes.
• Create and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
• Prepare lesson materials and demonstrate preparation when requested.
• Promote positive student behavior and enforce school policies.
• Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and media appropriate to student abilities.
• Safeguard students, equipment, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate records in compliance with legal and district requirements.
• Communicate regularly with parents, staff, and related service providers to monitor student progress.

Required profile

• Certification as a Special Education Teacher in New York State.
• Compliance with additional qualifications set by the Board of Education.
• Ability to collaborate with general education teachers and support staff.
• Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics.
