Special Education Resource Teacher (26/27 School Year)

About the role

The Washington Elementary School District is seeking a Special Education Resource Teacher for the 26/27 school year. Under general direction, you will provide high‑quality instruction, assess student needs, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure each learner receives a Free Appropriate Public Education.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and observations to identify academic, behavioral, social, and health needs.
• Develop individualized lesson plans and modify instruction based on IEP and 504 plan requirements.
• Lead the creation and implementation of IEPs, set learning goals, and track student progress.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, psychologists, social workers, and other staff.
• Integrate technology into lessons and maintain required documentation.
• Participate in and coordinate IEP meetings, ensuring compliance with IDEA and FAPE standards.
• Maintain classroom management that promotes safety and academic engagement.

Required profile

• Certified teacher status as indicated by the Certified Salary Schedule.
• Knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices.
• Familiarity with grade‑level content standards and special education regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with families and multidisciplinary teams.
