Spacecraft Development Engineer

About the role

Impulse is hiring a Spacecraft Development Engineer in Redondo Beach to work on diverse projects supporting its programs from development phase through production ramp-up. The engineer works closely with subsystems engineers, integration and test personnel, and program management to deliver on customer commitments and produce world-class space vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate across disciplines to shape requirements and verification approaches
• Support customer deliverables and generate program documentation
• Perform system-level analyses for mission design, system optimization and proposals
• Develop systems engineering processes that improve reliability, efficiency and performance
• Formulate risk mitigation strategies and drive their implementation
• Scale up engineering processes to support a high spacecraft production rate
• Support system-level test preparation, planning and execution
• Resolve technical issues with innovative solutions

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science
• Hands-on experience with mechanical, fluids or electrical systems
• Demonstrated experience with requirements analysis and flow-down
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
• Ability to take project ownership and work well in a small team
• Flexible schedule and willingness to travel as needed
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected individual status or eligibility for the required authorizations under ITAR

Preferred skills and experience

• Active TS/SCI clearance
• Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or another relevant engineering or science discipline
• Direct experience with spacecraft programs and missions, from concept to in-orbit operations
• Prior experience in development and/or testing
• Familiarity with analysis tools such as MATLAB and Excel
• CAD experience for hardware design
• Experience in a startup or agile development environment

• Pay of $100,000 to $160,000 per year, depending on role, level, location and market data
