Space and Defense Performance Leader - 3rd Shift

About the role

Moog is seeking a third‑shift Performance Leader for its Space and Defense Group in East Aurora, NY. The role combines hands‑on machine‑shop supervision with strategic responsibility for safety, quality, delivery and cost performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of 15‑20 machinists, ensuring daily operational ownership of the machine shop.
• Drive performance against Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets.
• Collaborate with the Manufacturing Manager to develop and execute Value Stream or Production Improvement Plans.
• Define, track, and measure short‑ and long‑term team goals aligned with site strategy.
• Oversee hiring, training, performance evaluation, and career development of team members.
• Address employee relations issues, administer counseling, discipline, and performance feedback.
• Maintain accurate time reporting and enforce personnel policies.
• Support site‑wide safety, quality, and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years machine‑shop experience or Associate’s degree with 4 years experience.
• Minimum 5 years direct management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to lead large production teams and deliver measurable results.

Required skills

• Strong leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Experience with lean manufacturing and process‑improvement tools (preferred).
• Effective communication and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Ability to analyze production metrics and implement corrective actions.
