About the role
Spark Power is seeking a Solar Technician to support its renewable energy assets in the Albany, New York region. You will act as the subject‑matter expert for assigned utility sites, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability of solar installations.
Key responsibilities
- Perform all duties of a Renewable Energy Technician, including site inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain facility buildings, vegetation, fences, and roads in a clean and organized condition.
- Manage site inventory, procure materials, and coordinate with third‑party contractors.
- Provide site safety training, orientations, and tours for clients as needed.
- Lead or assist with preventive maintenance (PM) schedules, track PM status, and document work performed.
- Participate in weekend on‑call rotations and overtime during peak production periods.
- Travel regionally between job sites and report daily activities to Asset Managers.
Required profile
- Ownership and accountability for assigned sites, including cleanliness and safety compliance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with owners, guests, and internal teams.
- Strong technical understanding of energization/de‑energization, lock‑out/tag‑out, and PLC‑based controls.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics.
- Proactive approach to troubleshooting equipment and maximizing production.
- Commitment to completing bi‑weekly/monthly inspections and major PMs on inverters, combiners, and substations.
