Solar Technician

About the role

Spark Power is looking for a Solar Technician to join its renewable‑energy team in Angleton, TX. You will become the subject‑matter expert for a group of utility‑scale solar assets, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all duties of a Renewable Energy Technician, including site inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain clean, organized facilities and manage site inventory and procurement.
• Provide site safety training, orientations, and tours for clients as needed.
• Lead or assist with preventive maintenance schedules and track PM status.
• Coordinate jobs, material procurement, and third‑party contractors.
• Participate in weekend on‑call rotations and overtime during peak production periods.
• Document daily work, generate detailed reports for Asset Managers, and complete general reporting.

Required profile

• Ownership and accountability for assigned sites, keeping buildings, vegetation, fences, gates, and roads tidy.
• Ability to manage spare‑parts inventory and ensure quick access.
• Strong focus on site health and safety, including signage, PPE, and documentation.
• Effective communication with owners, guests, and internal teams about ongoing issues.

Required skills

• Energization and de‑energization procedures
• Lock‑out/Tag‑out (LOTO) planning
• Operation of site‑specific PLCs and controls
• Interpretation of technical drawings and schematics
• Electrical troubleshooting and performance optimization
• Preventive maintenance execution for inverters, combiners, heliostats, and substations
