Solar Technician I – Junior Field Service Role

About the role

The Solar Technician I is a junior field service technician supporting senior staff in the operation and maintenance of utility‑scale solar facilities. The role focuses on safety, customer service, and learning company protocols while representing CSS on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with troubleshooting, repairing, and commissioning utility‑scale solar generators.
• Perform vegetative maintenance, quality‑assurance inspections, and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Provide timely field service reports to operations and ensure premium customer service.
• Participate in weekend and holiday on‑call schedules, including occasional overtime and overnight travel.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lb frequently and work at heights using a safety harness.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and exposure to electrical hazards.

Required skills

• Proficiency reading technical specification documents, site plans, and electrical schematics.
• Familiarity with electrical and mechanical trade tools, terminology, and processes.
• Basic understanding of electrical theory and photovoltaic power generation.
• General computer, network, and technology proficiency.
