Software Engineering Manager, Network Security

About the role

Anthropic is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead its Network Security team. The team secures Anthropic’s cloud and bare‑metal AI data‑center networks, protecting model weights, customer data, and internal assets. You will set the charter, practices, and priorities as the company expands its data‑center sites and cloud regions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the network security roadmap, including threat modeling from the management plane through Kubernetes and cloud interconnects.
• Design and ship default‑deny ingress/egress controls, segmentation, private connectivity, and mTLS/service identity across all environments.
• Integrate security primitives into new clusters, VPCs, and data‑center links so security is not on the critical path.
• Collaborate with networking, cluster, and data‑center teams at design time to embed topology, routing, and firewall invariants.
• Build visibility into traffic patterns, detect exfiltration paths, and automate safe remediation.
• Maintain evidence for security goals and compliance, proving that invariants hold.
• Hire, develop, and retain senior security software engineers, guiding their career growth and scaling team practices.

Required profile

• 8+ years of front‑line engineering management experience.
• Low ego, high empathy; proven ability to build diverse, high‑performing teams.
• Experience managing infrastructure or security engineering teams, including hiring and developing senior staff.
• Track record of growing engineers into staff or lead roles and making tough performance decisions when needed.
