Software Engineer – Scalable Microservices

About the role

Uber is seeking a Software Engineer to help accelerate waste reduction and vehicle adoption initiatives. You will work on building and extending microservices that power user experiences across Uber’s flagship mobile apps.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test software applications using Uber’s technology stack.
• Extend and maintain microservices that support large‑scale user experiences.
• Collaborate with product, design, and adjacent engineering teams to prototype new features quickly.
• Analyze complex data and provide technical recommendations to resolve issues.
• Support business operations, improve engineering productivity, and integrate software components into functional systems.
• Diagnose and resolve production incidents to ensure system reliability.
• Participate in on‑site work while having the option to telecommute as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
• At least five years of progressive post‑baccalaureate experience in software development or a related occupation.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C++, Python, Java, C#, or Go.
• Experience with version‑control systems such as Git or Phabricator.
• Strong knowledge of SQL or MySQL.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and technology stack design.
• Ability to debug, monitor, and maintain production services.
• Experience with distributed systems and the software development lifecycle.
