Software Engineer (NYC)

About the role

Join Lava’s engineering team in New York City to help shape the infrastructure that connects and monetizes AI‑native products. You will work on a universal connector platform that integrates with hundreds of LLMs, APIs, and services.

Key responsibilities

• Ship features and fix bugs across Lava’s surfaces.
• Extend the Gateway and monetization systems, including metering, billing, and payouts.
• Write tests, clean up rough edges, and maintain product reliability as usage grows.
• Pair with founding engineers to learn the codebase and gradually take ownership.
• Move fast, adapt to ambiguity, and help shape culture and processes from day one.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent depth from internships or independent projects.
• Comfortable with TypeScript/Node.js and able to ship production code with guidance.
• Solid grasp of API design, data modeling, and testing; deep systems design not required.
• Hands‑on AI user who has experimented with AI tools and used an LLM API at least once.
• Resourceful, self‑motivated, and comfortable in an early‑stage, fast‑changing environment.
