Software Engineer, Mobile (Android) – Search

About the role

Google is seeking a Software Engineer to shape the native Android experience for Image Search Results and the Image Viewer within the Android Google App. You will work on high‑impact projects that serve billions of users worldwide, focusing on performance, visual quality, and scalability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and launch Android features for Google Image Search and the Image Viewer.
• Lead end‑to‑end technical projects, from design documentation to production release.
• Drive performance optimizations for critical user journeys to improve speed and fluidity.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across Search, UI/UX, and infrastructure.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of software development experience, including 2 years of Android application development.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and a solid understanding of the Android SDK.
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, strong data‑structures/algorithms background, and experience with performance optimization and mobile image management (e.g., Glide, Bitmaps).
