Software Engineer IV (E4) – Desktop Applications

About the role

As a Software Engineer IV at Applied Materials you will create and maintain high‑performance desktop applications that drive semiconductor equipment innovation. You will work closely with cross‑functional engineering teams to translate complex hardware requirements into reliable software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Windows desktop applications using C++, C#.NET and WPF.
• Architect multithreaded and concurrent software to maximize performance and responsiveness.
• Integrate software with hardware components, motion‑control systems and industrial automation equipment.
• Collaborate with systems, electrical, mechanical and process engineers to define requirements and system architecture.
• Optimize memory usage, reliability and performance for mission‑critical environments.
• Participate in code reviews, maintain technical documentation and support product deployments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 7–10 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ and C#/.NET development.
• Extensive experience building desktop applications with WPF.
• Demonstrated expertise in multithreaded programming and performance optimization.
