Software Engineer II – Full-Stack Backend Focus

About the role

Alarm.com is looking for a Software Engineer II who enjoys working across the full stack, with a strong emphasis on server‑side development while also gaining exposure to client‑side platforms. You will be part of the Customer Experience (CX) team, building end‑to‑end features that power our IoT platform for millions of homeowners and businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain server‑side services and APIs that power Alarm.com products.
• Own features from concept through deployment, testing, and production verification.
• Write clean, well‑structured code and ensure it is maintainable by other engineers.
• Consider edge cases, failure modes, and error handling beyond the happy path.
• Contribute to client development on Android, iOS, or web, focusing primarily on one platform while gaining exposure to others.
• Participate in meaningful code reviews and collaborate across teams to meet business and technical goals.
• Engage in the full development lifecycle, including post‑ship monitoring and support.
• Leverage AI tools when they add value and share best practices with the team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong backend development skills with a desire to deepen client‑side expertise.
• Ability to form and defend technical opinions and contribute to product decisions.
