Software Engineer II – Backend & Data Pipelines

About the role

We are building the next generation of automated retail intelligence, turning store‑shelf images into real‑time inventory signals. As a Software Engineer II you will design, develop, and operate the backend systems that ingest massive image streams, run model inference, and deliver reliable inventory insights.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable data pipelines that process large‑scale image and metadata streams.
• Develop backend services to orchestrate model inference, post‑process predictions, and expose high‑quality data to downstream consumers.
• Ensure high availability, low latency, and fault tolerance across distributed, high‑throughput systems.
• Create data models and processing logic that convert raw model outputs into accurate, interpretable inventory signals.
• Collaborate with ML engineers, data scientists, mobile engineers, product managers, and operations teams to define requirements and continuously improve system quality.

Required profile

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in at least one of the following languages: C, C++, Java, Python, or Go.

Required skills

• Programming languages: C, C++, Java, Python, Go.
• Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Knowledge of modern computer‑vision techniques (YOLO, Faster R‑CNN, Vision Transformers, Siamese Networks).
• Design and implementation of large‑scale data pipelines and distributed backend services.

What we offer

• Base salary range: $171,000 – $190,000 per year.
