Software Engineer I

About the role

We are looking for an early‑career Software Engineer I to join Mastercard’s Java development team in Missouri. You will help build and maintain high‑throughput, low‑latency microservices that power our global transaction processing platform.

Key responsibilities

• Translate product requirements into Java‑based technical implementations under senior engineer guidance.
• Participate in software design discussions and propose scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Write modular, readable, and performant code following best practices.
• Develop and maintain unit, functional and integration tests to ensure software quality.
• Follow secure coding standards throughout the development lifecycle.
• Engage in peer code reviews and incorporate feedback.
• Assist with prototyping, proof‑of‑concept initiatives, and troubleshooting production issues.
• Support cloud‑ready microservices and distributed applications using Agile Scrum methodologies.
