Software Engineer I – Backend & Feed Personalization

About the role

Uber is seeking a Software Engineer I to join the team responsible for building and scaling the next‑generation feed personalization and advertising infrastructure for Uber Eats. You will work on backend systems that deliver customized user experiences, improve merchant visibility, and support global operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy software components for the home‑feed system.
• Build scalable, resilient services that integrate with Uber’s broader platform.
• Investigate and resolve production issues to ensure system reliability.
• Conduct performance audits, profiling, and deprecation of low‑impact features.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and product stakeholders on long‑term architecture.
• Mentor new team members and contribute to design reviews and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software development lifecycle.
• Experience with distributed systems and debugging production services.
