Software Engineer - Compiler

About the role

Sigma Computing is looking for a Software Engineer to join its Compiler team. The team builds the core systems that turn spreadsheet interactions into high‑performance SQL queries for modern data warehouses, enabling fast, reliable analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain compiler infrastructure and intermediate representations that translate spreadsheet operations into optimized query plans.
• Apply advanced optimization techniques to improve performance and accuracy across diverse query workloads.
• Contribute to backend services in Rust and frontend foundations in TypeScript, evolving abstractions for end‑to‑end workflow optimizations.
• Debug, analyze, and resolve complex issues to ensure robustness and maintainability.
• Collaborate with engineers and product stakeholders on design reviews, code quality, and architectural decisions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience building high‑quality software systems.
• Proven track record delivering complex infrastructure or core platform services.
• Deep understanding of computer‑science fundamentals, especially compilers, algorithms, and SQL optimization.
• Experience working in an iterative, high‑cadence environment.

What we offer

• Base salary range $170,000 – $235,000 per year.
