Software Engineer 1 – Web Development/Applications

About the role

Garmin is looking for a full‑time Software Engineer 1 focused on web development and applications at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. You will play a key role in building and implementing a new web application.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Application Analysts to design and execute unit and system testing processes.
• Review, troubleshoot, and modify existing code to debug and enhance applications.
• Identify and resolve basic‑scope problems using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Gather specific requirements from internal and external non‑IT associates and plan technical work.
• Recommend improvements to support and extend existing applications.
• Seek input from IT analysts or other technical resources when needed.
• Apply standards, procedures, and appropriate tools while documenting work thoroughly.
• Participate in project definition activities, including feature analysis and system trade‑offs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, MIS, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Academic GPA of at least 3.0.
• Ability to learn and apply secure coding practices.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Understanding of frontend technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, and frameworks like Vue, Express, or React.
