Software Developer II – Enterprise Applications

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Software Developer II to design, develop, and support complex enterprise applications for Texas A&M University‑San Antonio. The role involves leading technical initiatives, troubleshooting critical issues, and collaborating with business stakeholders to deliver scalable, high‑quality software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex software applications and enhancements.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define requirements, project scope, and deliverables.
• Develop technical specifications, architecture designs, and detailed documentation.
• Review, analyze, and optimize existing systems for performance and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues through root‑cause analysis.
• Execute testing strategies, including unit, integration, and user‑acceptance testing.
• Guide data architecture and integration strategies.
• Assist in project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Evaluate new tools, technologies, and programming languages for business applicability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Three to five years of experience in software development and application support.
• Strong experience designing and developing enterprise‑level applications.
• Familiarity with SDLC, Agile methodologies, and ITIL frameworks.

Required skills

• Expertise in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving complex technical issues.
• Experience with Ellucian Banner ERP.
• Experience with Laserfiche document management system.
• Knowledge of system integrations, APIs, and data architecture.
• Understanding of ITIL best practices for incident, problem, and change management.
