About the role
The Social Work Intern will join Dr. Melissa Zielinski’s HEALS Lab at UAMS, supporting grant‑related activities and direct client services. This unpaid, on‑site position offers hands‑on experience in psychotherapy, assessments, and interdisciplinary collaboration within a health‑care setting.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with grant and contract administration for the HEALS Lab.
- Provide individual and group psychotherapy under supervision.
- Conduct brief interventions, client interviews, and psychosocial assessments.
- Develop and facilitate psychoeducational groups.
- Prepare client documentation, review session notes, and maintain accurate records.
- Participate in team meetings, outreach activities, and continuing education sessions.
Required profile
- Enrollment in a Social Work or related graduate program.
- Interest in mental health services within a medical setting.
- Ability to obtain proof of legal work authorization in the United States.
- Willingness to be fully vaccinated against Covid‑19 or hold an approved exemption.
