About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Social Services Provider (Level 1 or 2) to deliver rehabilitation counseling, referral services, and resident evaluations for youth under broad supervision. This position supports the mental health and social development of assigned clients while contributing to the agency’s mission of improving lives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intake services and mental‑health screenings for youth, ensuring completion within policy timeframes.
• Perform comprehensive mental‑health assessments, interview youth and families, and coordinate with external health professionals.
• Develop written mental‑health reports, determine appropriate services, and make referrals as needed.
• Provide therapeutic counseling to individuals, groups, or families, and create treatment or crisis‑management plans.
• Deliver on‑call evening and weekend coverage for urgent mental‑health needs.

Required profile

• Ability to work under broad supervision while maintaining confidentiality.
• Experience interviewing youth and families and interpreting psychosocial information.
• Capacity to produce professional assessment reports in line with DJJ policy and OBHS guidance.
• Willingness to provide crisis intervention and on‑call coverage.
