Skilled Trades Helper – Nights

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Skilled Trades Helper to support our campus facilities team during the night shift. The role involves assisting tradespeople across various systems to keep the university’s physical plant operating smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Assist skilled tradesmen with tasks in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, grounds care, and mechanical systems.
• Perform manual labor under varying conditions while following oral instructions.
• Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring proper operation and care.
• Participate in on‑the‑job training and demonstrate a willingness to learn a craft.
• Provide reliable, non‑disruptive attendance and support a harmonious work environment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work evenings, Monday‑Friday 12:30 pm‑9:00 pm.
• Strong attendance record and ability to follow oral directions.
• Willingness to learn and develop trade skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, grounds care, and mechanical systems.
• Skill in operating and caring for hand and power tools.
