Silicon Engineer

About the role

Anthropic is building custom silicon to accelerate its AI training and inference workloads. As a Silicon Engineer you will join a small, high‑impact team responsible for end‑to‑end chip development, from architecture definition to first‑silicon bring‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own specifications, interface definitions, and architectural direction for your domain.
• Make strategic decisions on technology, IP selection, and build‑vs‑buy trade‑offs.
• Develop AI‑assisted tools and workflows to accelerate design tasks.
• Collaborate with inference, performance, and kernel teams on hardware‑software co‑design.
• Partner with hardware systems engineers for bring‑up, integration, and debugging of first silicon.
• Contribute to micro‑architecture discussions and evaluate chip‑level trade‑offs.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience shipping silicon that has taped‑out and been fabricated.
• Deep expertise in at least one silicon domain (e.g., front‑end design, physical design, analog/mixed‑signal, packaging, etc.).
• Ability to reason across adjacent domains and assess system‑level impacts.
• Experience working with external partners such as ASIC houses, IP vendors, foundries, or test labs.
• Track record of owning technical direction and handling its consequences.
