About the role
The Shipping Operator will oversee the daily operation of Spot and Time Charter vessels, ensuring safe and compliant voyages while supporting commercial and trading teams.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a fleet of Spot and Time Charter vessels, monitoring position, speed, ETA and cargo compliance.
- Coordinate loading and discharge operations, including stow plans, LOIs, agent appointments and port cost payments.
- Assess vessel performance with the Vetting Department and recommend future utilization.
- Track bunker consumption, remaining on board (ROB), speed and cargo tank preparation.
- Generate voyage analysis reports, volume tracking and cost‑saving data for P&L support.
- Interface with internal stakeholders to develop vessel schedules, optimization and utilization.
- Co‑ordinate bunkering requirements for Time Charter vessels.
- Assist Commercial, Chartering and Trading teams with vessel and STS clearances as needed.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime, Marine Transportation, Shipping or equivalent certification.
- 5‑10 years of tanker operations experience with a ship owner or trading/oil major.
- Commercial mindset, strong organizational and communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in multicultural, fast‑paced environments.
- Capacity to make risk‑based decisions with limited information.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
