Shipping Manager

About the role

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Shipping Manager to lead daily shipping operations for outgoing products. The role ensures efficient load scheduling, cost‑effective trailer utilization, and on‑time delivery while fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule and manage inbound and outbound shipments.
• Maximize trailer utilization and reduce transportation costs.
• Maintain a collaborative safety environment and ensure compliance with safety policies.
• Prepare daily and monthly management reports on shipping performance.
• Monitor courier rates and select the most cost‑effective options.
• Apply knowledge of shipping routes, procedures, and rates to prioritize deliveries and guarantee customer satisfaction.
• Communicate with managers and cross‑functional teams to align shipping goals.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years of production leadership experience.
• 3+ years of logistics, industrial, or shipping experience.
• Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload.
• Focus on customer satisfaction and cost estimation for shipping.
• Commitment to workplace safety and ability to report unsafe conditions.
• Proven ability to build cooperative relationships with managers, staff, and vendors.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
