Service Project Manager – Federal Facilities

About the role

Johnson Controls Federal Systems is seeking a Service Project Manager to lead maintenance and service projects at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. The role focuses on HVAC mechanical, controls, and building automation systems, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the on‑site leader for project execution, managing scope, procurement, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and billing to meet profitability goals.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as US Army Corps of Engineers safety standards.
• Coordinate with mechanics, technicians, and subcontractors to deliver work that meets established standards.
• Provide regular status updates, financial reporting, and risk mitigation plans to leadership.

Required profile

• Experience in project or service management for commercial/industrial building construction or service.
• Proficiency with project management software, financial accounting systems, and preferably CMMS.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to translate technical material for non‑technical audiences.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances.

Required skills

• HVAC mechanical and controls knowledge.
• Building Automation Systems (BAS) expertise.
• Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably Maximo.
• Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Project, and Outlook.
