Senior/Staff Mechanical Engineer – Fluid Systems

About the role

Antora Energy is seeking a self‑driven Senior or Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and validation of fluid‑system subsystems for its thermal battery technology. This hands‑on position spans concept development through prototyping, testing, and production, and contributes directly to accelerating long‑duration energy storage deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architecture, detailed design, analysis, and testing of structural, thermal, and fluid components within the thermal battery.
• Perform rigorous calculations, finite element analysis (FEA), trade studies, and AI‑enabled workflows to guide design decisions.
• Drive prototyping, testing, failure analysis, and root‑cause investigations to ensure reliability.
• Identify cost‑down opportunities in design and manufacturing while maintaining performance.
• Define system requirements, lead design reviews, and integrate feedback across engineering and operations teams.
• Develop and maintain CAD standards, documentation, and engineering infrastructure.
• Mentor junior engineers and act as a technical lead.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with 6+ years (Senior) or 10+ years (Staff) of relevant experience, or equivalent Master’s/PhD qualifications.
• Experience in power generation, aerospace, propulsion, or industrial hardware development.
• Proven ability to take complex mechanical systems from concept to deployed hardware.

Required skills

• Advanced CAD proficiency (SolidWorks or similar) and PDM system usage.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 drafting standards.
• Expertise in structural and thermal analysis, including FEA and hand calculations.
• Experience designing machined components for low‑ to mid‑volume production; sheet‑metal, casting, or composite knowledge is a plus.
• Familiarity with systems analysis and risk‑management tools such as FMEA.
• Ability to integrate AI tools into engineering workflows while maintaining technical rigor.
