Senior Typist Clerk – Emergency Hire

About the role

The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services is seeking experienced clerical professionals to fill emergency Senior Typist Clerk positions supporting the DOJ Consent Decree. The role is initially temporary (up to 90 days) with the possibility of permanent employment based on performance.

Key responsibilities

• Process and verify legal documents such as court orders, petitions, writs, warrants, and purchase orders for form, validity, and compliance.
• Perform statistical computations, fee estimations, and data entry using word processors and computer terminals.
• Review and correct documents for accuracy, ensure conformity to established procedures, and make final checks without higher‑level review.

Required profile

• Three (3) years of office clerical experience, including at least one (1) year in a specialized clerical capacity.
• Ability to type at a minimum of 40 net words per minute.
• Valid California Class "C" driver’s license or alternative transportation method.
• Physical Class II – Light (occasional lifting up to 10 lb, occasional bending, stooping, or squatting).

Required skills

• Proficient typing (≥40 wpm) and word‑processing skills.
• Experience with video display terminals, personal computers, and related office equipment.
• Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures for reviewing court‑related documents.
