Senior Thermal Modeling Engineer

About the role

Radiant Industries is developing the world’s first mass‑produced portable nuclear microreactor. The Senior Thermal Modeling Engineer will lead high‑fidelity CFD and thermal FEA simulations for the Kaleidos 1‑MW microreactor, ensuring safety, reliability, and performance across reactor and cooling systems.

Key responsibilities

• Own and execute thermal CFD analyses for reactor components and subsystems.
• Develop and implement models for turbulent flow, heat transfer, and multi‑physics interactions.
• Identify and apply best practices for CFD simulation accuracy and efficiency.
• Build automated workflows to scale simulation capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support reduced‑order analysis methods.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of industry experience in CFD/thermal modeling.
• Proven ability to communicate technical results to multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
• Must work 100% onsite at the El Segundo headquarters.

Required skills

• STAR‑CCM+ or comparable commercial CFD code.
• Ansys Fluent or equivalent CFD software.
• Proficiency with Siemens NX or similar CAD tools.
• Strong knowledge of finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics principles.
• Experience with thermal modeling and heat transfer simulations.
