Senior Test Engineer

About the role

Radiant, a startup developing portable nuclear microreactors, is looking for a Senior Test Engineer to create and maintain mission‑critical operating procedures for its reactors. The role bridges engineering, operations, and human‑factors, ensuring that Reactor Operators can safely execute testing, commissioning, and day‑to‑day activities.

Key responsibilities

• Qualify as a Reactor Operator to gain hands‑on experience and validate procedures against real‑world execution.
• Collaborate with engineers to improve operator interfaces, procedural workflows, and supporting software tools.
• Support testing and iterative improvement of digital‑twin scenarios, operator systems, and human‑machine interfaces.
• Maintain DOE and NRC compliance in all procedural documentation, ensuring clear formatting and usability.
• Develop and refine operational procedures that integrate software and hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing.

Required profile

• 6‑7+ years of full‑time professional experience in engineering problem‑solving, system design, analysis, or testing.
• Proven ability to manage complex hardware and software processes for testing and operations.
• First‑principles thinking and comfort making decisions in ambiguous, highly regulated environments.
• Background in regulated sectors such as nuclear, aerospace, aviation, or maritime.

Required skills

• Experience with DOE and NRC procedural standards.
• Knowledge of digital‑twin testing and human‑machine interface design.
• Strong competency in hardware‑in‑the‑loop and software‑in‑the‑loop testing methodologies.
