Senior Systems Engineer / Analyst

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join its engineering team supporting the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) Program in Dahlgren, Virginia and Washington, DC. The role assists with and leads SLCM-N development, installation and training for the SLCM-N Fire Control, providing systems engineering expertise for Navy strategic systems. It also supports the evaluation of new concepts, technologies, software, hardware and weapon system capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide systems engineering support for evaluating new concepts and designs for SLBM groups at NSWC Dahlgren, supporting Strategic Systems Programs.
• Provide installation and training support for the SLCM-N Program.
• Analyze and review new designs and implementations of the SLCM-N Fire Control System.
• Support development of new concepts and technologies and research potential new Fleet capabilities.
• Coordinate with other engineering and management disciplines to support design, training and installation milestones.
• Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and design artifacts.
• Liaise with customers at all levels and verify compliance with engineering documentation standards.
• Help identify, analyze and resolve complex systems engineering issues involving platform, weapon, combat, Command and Control (C2) and fire control systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering, scientific or technical discipline, or 10 years of demonstrated subject matter expertise.
• 10 years of professional systems engineering experience on a DoD major strategic platform, weapon, combat, C2 or fire control systems program.
• 5 years of concurrent experience as a team leader developing requirements, top-level designs and/or system architectures for software-intensive systems.
• Active Secret U.S. Government security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required to maintain it.
• Preferred: Top Secret clearance and experience with Strategic Systems Programs or other SLBM organizations supporting Fire Control System development.
