Senior Superintendent – Commercial Construction

About the role

The Senior Superintendent leads on‑site construction activities for multiple commercial projects across the Mid‑Atlantic region. Reporting to senior management, this role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget while upholding the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Direct all on‑site construction work for several concurrent projects.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate crews and equipment to maximize productivity.
• Maintain project schedules and budgets, addressing variances promptly.
• Enforce corporate safety programs and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Conduct regular site inspections for quality control and specification adherence.
• Collaborate with Project Managers on labor, equipment, and project requirements.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop foremen and field staff, fostering a strong team culture.
• Manage subcontractors, monitoring performance against standards.
• Identify and resolve issues proactively to minimize disruptions.
• Communicate clearly with all stakeholders, including field teams and leadership.
• Implement cost‑effective construction strategies and field management practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of commercial construction experience.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Proven capability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
• Willingness to travel throughout Virginia, Maryland, and the Metro DC area.
• Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
• Reliable transportation and physical ability to work on active construction sites.
