Senior Structural Engineer - Part Time (Temp)

About the role

Amentum, NASA's largest engineering solutions provider, is recruiting a Senior Structural Engineer for its JETSII contract. This is a part-time temporary role not to exceed 30 weeks, supporting NASA's Commercial Crew stress reports and first-flight review. The work is generally in an office environment, with occasional inside or outside tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Support NASA/ES in reviewing Commercial Crew stress reports to support first flight by January 2024
• Review component and subsystem hardware designs
• Review structural analysis reports and build a spreadsheet database with comments and questions
• Meet with Sierra to resolve comments and questions as needed
• Perform other duties as required

Required profile

• Typically a bachelor's degree in Engineering, possibly with a related master's or higher degree
• Normally 15+ years of related experience
• BSME in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• 15+ years of experience in NASA spaceflight hardware structures and analysis preferred
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required, and a U.S. government background investigation must be completed

Required skills

• Prior experience reviewing structural verification plans and structural analysis for NASA spaceflight hardware
• Fracture control experience for spaceflight hardware and knowledge of NASA fracture control requirements
