Senior Stress Engineer

About the role

Radiant Industries is developing the world’s first mass‑produced portable nuclear microreactor. The Senior Stress Engineer will lead structural‑loads, vibration, and dynamic analyses for the Kaleidos reactor and its supporting hardware, ensuring integrity throughout manufacturing, transport, deployment, and operation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and own static, dynamic, and transient load cases for reactor systems, support structures, and transport configurations.
• Perform structural dynamics analyses, including modal, random vibration, shock, sine vibration, and fatigue assessments.
• Run explicit dynamics simulations to capture nonlinear reactor response during seismic and transportation events.
• Define transportation and handling environments (road, rail, air, sea) and generate load cases for sizing and verification.
• Conduct finite element analyses (FEA) using ANSYS, Abaqus, or comparable tools.
• Collaborate with design, thermal, nuclear, and test teams to influence architecture, material selection, and joint design.
• Support test planning, shaker tests, modal surveys, and structural verification activities.
• Document analyses, generate reports, and interface with regulatory reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of professional experience in stress analysis and structural dynamics.
• Proven ability to work in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
