Senior Staff Software Engineer – Medical Devices

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to serve as the Technical Lead for our medical‑device software platform. You will own the end‑to‑end architecture that runs on Linux‑based cardiac scanners in the field and on the cloud, ensuring safety, maintainability and extensibility.

Key responsibilities

• Own the platform architecture across device, cloud and data layers, establishing a regulated cloud data platform on AWS.
• Design HIPAA‑compliant data pipelines that preserve confidentiality, integrity and availability from sensor to cloud.
• Write production code, review complex pull requests and set standards for code quality, testing and documentation.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers, fostering technical excellence and psychological safety.
• Lead compliance activities, aligning design outputs with medical‑device standards (IEC 62304, Class B/C) and quality‑management processes.
• Collaborate with product, clinical and regulatory teams to translate requirements into technical specifications and delivery timelines.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 4 years as a technical lead or architect for distributed, cloud‑heavy systems.
• Demonstrated experience delivering regulated software in a quality‑management system (medical‑device, aerospace, automotive, or life‑sciences).
• Strong background in data‑interface design and cross‑component integration.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one modern systems language: Rust, C++, Go or Python.
• Deep experience with AWS (Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, CloudWatch, Datadog).
• Design of HIPAA/GDPR‑compliant systems, including encryption and audit logging.
• Knowledge of IEC 62304, SaMD development and standards such as HL7/FHIR for EHR integration.
