Senior Speechwriter

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is seeking a Senior Speechwriter to craft external and internal communications for the Bank president and senior executives. This role supports the Bank’s strategic messaging on monetary policy, economic conditions, and organizational initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all phases of speech development for the Bank president, from research and drafting to final delivery.
• Coordinate review processes with economists, subject‑matter experts, and communications staff.
• Develop detailed timelines, assign accountabilities, and produce briefing documents.
• Conduct post‑engagement reviews to assess message penetration and audience response.
• Advise on tone, tenor, and delivery adjustments to maximize impact.
• Draft shorter‑form executive communications such as welcoming remarks, town‑hall scripts, strategy presentations, and internal leadership messages.
• Research, draft, and refine articles for internal and external Bank publications.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience writing speeches and communications for senior executives.
• Proven ability to research complex economic and policy topics.
• Strong collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams, including economists and communications professionals.
• Excellent judgment to handle confidential and time‑sensitive material.
• Ability to produce polished drafts that require minimal revision.
