Senior Specialist – Capital Project Management

About the role

MSD’s Global Engineering Solutions (GES) is seeking a Senior Specialist to lead capital projects that support manufacturing, laboratory and infrastructure operations. The role will be based initially in Rahway, NJ, with future assignments across the United States and up to 50% travel required.

Key responsibilities

• Manage an integrated project team to deliver critical assets on time, within budget, and meeting safety, health, environment (SHE) and quality standards.
• Oversee the full project lifecycle from evaluation, scope development, design coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning, qualification and close‑out.
• Develop and implement project execution, SHE, risk mitigation and change‑control plans.
• Coordinate with design leaders, external FEL partners and cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure compliant and efficient designs.
• Prepare and present project status reports, financial forecasts and corrective action plans to senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum five years of experience delivering capital or expense projects in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to lead integrated project teams and manage budgets, schedules and stakeholder communication.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with experience presenting project status and funding updates.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

Required skills

• Lean Project Delivery Methodologies (target value design, off‑site fabrication, pull‑planning tools).
• Familiarity with bioprocessing equipment such as bioreactors, chromatography systems, buffer systems and hygienic utilities (WFI).
• Project management techniques including cost control, schedule development, construction management and change‑control processes.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and SHE standards.

What we offer

• Salary range $117,000 – $184,200 per year.
