Senior Software Engineer – Workday SOX

About the role

The Senior Software Engineer – Workday SOX will lead a time‑sensitive compliance initiative within Workday, strengthening IT change‑management controls, ensuring SOX audit readiness, and establishing sustainable reporting processes. The role works closely with Internal Audit, GRC, Finance, Business stakeholders, the Workday IT support team, and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a year‑to‑date look‑back review of all Workday‑related IT changes to determine SOX relevance and proper authorization, testing, and alignment with financial reporting.
• Collaborate with IT, GRC, Internal Audit, Business, and vendor teams to validate findings, close gaps, and document remediation actions.
• Design, implement, and continuously improve automated processes that reliably identify SOX‑relevant Workday changes using audit tags, reporting, and repeatable controls.
• Define and maintain procedures for ownership, reporting cadence, quality checks, and escalation paths for the ongoing process.
• Evaluate and coordinate vendor‑supported solutions, including work with Invisors or other Workday partners.
• Prepare clear status updates, issue summaries, and recommendations for leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Support knowledge transfer and documentation to ensure process sustainability beyond the initial engagement.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with SOX controls, IT general controls, change management, audit evidence, or related compliance technology processes.
• Ability to analyze change records, system documentation, approvals, test evidence, and reporting outputs to identify control gaps.
• Proven experience working with cross‑functional stakeholders across IT, Finance, Internal Audit, GRC, and external consulting partners.
• Strong documentation, communication, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into clear business language.
