Senior Software Engineer – Ruby on Rails & Sidekiq

About the role

Join the Platform squad of Wellsheet at Elsevier, a clinical decision‑support platform used by thousands of providers. As a Senior Software Engineer you will help build the next‑generation platform API and internal tooling that powers real‑time EHR synchronization, FHIR ingestion, and vocabulary normalization across more than 100 hospitals.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end platform subsystems such as ingestion pipelines, sync reliability and data normalization.
• Maintain stack health through major framework upgrades, developer tooling improvements and CI/CD enhancements.
• Diagnose and resolve loosely specified problems (e.g., vendor‑specific FHIR quirks) with durable fixes.
• Ensure correctness and observability as new consumers adopt the platform.
• Partner with the engineer who built the sync and normalization systems, taking ownership of a production pipeline and its on‑call responsibilities.

Required profile

• Senior‑level software engineer with strong engineering judgment.
• Comfortable working on backend services and building internal tools.
• Willingness to learn clinical and interoperability domains; no prior healthcare experience required.
