Senior Software Engineer – FedNow

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) team. You will help build and evolve the FedNow instant payment service, a 24x7x365 real‑time gross settlement platform that modernises payments across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement complex software solutions that meet FedNow and Federal Reserve standards.
• Build front‑end single‑page applications (SPA) and back‑end services in a cloud environment.
• Create end‑to‑end Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) pipelines to automate deployment and scaling.
• Provide technical leadership on large‑scale projects and collaborate with cross‑functional project teams.
• Write, test, debug, and document code across all phases of the software development lifecycle.

Required profile

• Advanced expertise in applications systems analysis, design, and programming.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and mentor peers.
• Strong appetite for learning new technologies and a passion for innovation.
• Senior‑level experience; no direct reports required.
